dreamwidth, anime detour, convergence (?)
so, i don’t belive i said anything here about it, but dreamwidth is going into open beta at the end of april. and i’ll be buying a paid account, if not a seed account.
there’s a couple of people who said this much more eloquently then i can, but bascially my reasoning is this: i trust dreamwidth’s intentions in the short term, and also in the long term. not only that, but i think they can back up their promises.
i’m really thrilled about this. i haven’t got the serious grudge/anger that a lot of lj expats have against the various Overlords, but i have wanted a better home on the internet for a while now. i think dreamwidth is going to be that– a home.

anyway. detour. it was this past weekend. i was staff this year, it was awesome.
i actually saw the amvs this year, which was fun. we blew fuses in the consuite twice (ouch) and i warped so many kids. we got a bunch of epic volunteers, most of whom we also tracked down their info so we can get them next year too.
my favorite warping story though, was this kid, he couldn’t have been more then 13– tiny, big eyes, first con with his sister. adoable. he was wandering around looking for something to do untill this panel he wanted to see started, and i told him he should volunteer. he didn’t end up volunteering then, but he seemed swayed. in fact, later when i went to the amv room, he was badging, and i saw him doing so a lot over the weekend.
i am looking forward to being in the sheraton, tho. The Crown Plaza was beautiful, and it was so nice being in a bigger space, but. I dunno. maybe it was because the con’s getting younger again, but it seemed everyone was very messy this year– and i’m not just talking about in the consuite.
I will have to get a hotel room next year tho.
am thinking about going to convergence– friend of mine offered crash space.

Ok yeah I’m stalking you. >.> I just don’t come across cool people very often so I have to take advantage of it.
This is the first year me and Steve haven’t gone to detour and it makes me saaad.
I’ve thought about volunteering before, is it fun? I think next year I’m DEFINITELY going and I’m probably gunna get a table at the artist ally. 
Do you cosplay? me and steve have done team rocket 2 times and one year he did howl (howl’s moving castle) and I did haruko (FLCL). Man I am making myself depressed again. Sounds like you had a blast!

Oh, it’s super awesome fun volunteering. (otherwise, i wouldn’t have done it this long.) I didn’t cosplay this year, but in years past, I was in the maskerade with a group of Haruhi cosplayers. There’s video of us on youtube, and I’m totally screwing up the dance. Apparently, i actually remember you two as team rocket, with your hoard of grunts.
Yeah, if you two go next year, let me know- i’ll steal you and make you volunteer for me in the consuite. (mwahahaa!) (actually, particularly let me know if you two wanted to split a room or rides or something.)
Detour was fun- but next year will be even more awesome, I bet.

Yeah that first year was awesome cause we coerced all our friends to go as grunts but our costumes were much better the second time around, but with no grunts
I am DEFINITELY gunna go next year (we only didn’t go this year because we’re so poor) even if I have to sell a kidney, I shall be there! At this point I’m pretty sold on the artist ally idea but if I have a spare moment I would LOOVE to volunteer wherever you wanna put me (consuite sounds fun, and hectic, lol) And at this point I don’t know very many people that go to detour anymore. Just me and steve and sometimes my one friend goes and sometimes not and I have a new friend at school that I’m FORCING to go with me, so if a few of us get together we should definitely get a room together (cause driving back and force/crashing in a party room sucks.) ;3
